I have had the luxury of owning many fantastic trumpets and flugelhorns in the last year, in a search for the perfect one for me. I'm reaching the end of my journey now, and can only keep a couple of instruments.
Up for sale is a Hub van Laar Custom trumpet in silver from 2002. This trumpet is an ML bore, but was constructed to feel like a large bore instrument. The sound is rather dark and warm, but will brighten up in the upper register. These are truly unique instruments - I know a classical player who sold his mint condition New York Bach Stradivarius to play a van Laar instead! I play mostly jazz, and prefer another type of sound for myself. Therefore this is one of the trumpets I must sell.
